The Blood Challenge

Sent on of behalf of Chief Constable Jamie Graham...This is for the officers, support staff, our many volunteers (CCW, Traffic Authority, CPC offices, etc.)

The blood challenge is on again this year so come out and support the VPD. For a few years now, the VPD, RCMP, Fire and EHS have supported Canadian Blood Services and BC hospital patients through blood donations in an annual Emergency Services Blood Challenge - recently re-named Sirens for Life.

This year’s Challenge will hopefully prove to be another great success! It was a close race last year between Fire and us; but with a 6 donation lead, the VPD took home the title with 122 donations. The big question will be, "Who will win this year??" The Challenge runs from June 14 to August 26, 2007. It always proves to be tough this time of year with everyone away on holidays but come on folks we need your blood or platelets. If you do the platelets you get to sit through my favourite movie, Dirty Harry while you donate. People really need our help and so do I. Roll up your sleeves, donate and ensure the VPD once again takes home the trophy! I do not want to influence anyone but I have no intention of washing a fire truck again with a miniaturized sponge. I have a police wagon that needs cleaning by the Fire Chief with a tooth brush!

You can donate at any blood services clinic and just let them know you are part of the VPD family and your donation will go towards our total.
