Speed Watch Update

Our Center needs you to become involved in one of our most exciting safety programs, the Speed Watch program. Speed Watch is an educational program aimed at reducing speeding in our neighborhood. The Speed Watch program is operated in partnership with the Vancouver Police Department, and ICBC and is conducted through out various locations in the community.

Our trained volunteers set up speeder watch stations and with the aid of radar equipment and a digital speed-reader board they monitor and document the speed of passing vehicles. If necessary, we enlist the aid of traffic enforcement constables
to deal with the speeders. Over time our office has come to realize that the vast majority of complaints about speeders and requests for Speed Watch come from parents of local elementary and high schools.

However, with the high number of schools in our area and with our limited number of volunteers we find it increasingly difficult to keep up with the demand. This is why I'm turning to you for help.

I would like to ask parents to assist and participate in our Speed Watch program.

What better way of ensuring children's safety as they come and go from school! All we need is a small commitment of your time.

We provide the equipment and training, and together we can build a more caring and safe neighborhood around our schools and community.

Should you have any questions, or if you would like to hear a small presentation on this program please don't hesitate to contact our office at: (604) 717–2941 or send us an e-mail to: svcpc@telus.net.
