November Intersection Safety Campaign
ICBC, the police, and the provincial government want to make B.C. roads safer, especially at intersections where more than 270 crashes happen every day. Between 2003 and 2005 more than 40 per cent of all police-attended crashes occurred at intersections. ICBC wants to send a message that although our driving habits may seem harmless, they increase our risk of causing a crash. To get the message out, an awareness campaign was launched on November 6 at Vancouver Police headquarters. Police forces are stepping up enforcement at intersections across the province and ICBC is encouraging people to drive smart. SVCPC will be focusing on the intersections in our district and sending Speed Watch volunteer crews. If you want to become part of our exciting volunteer patrols and crews, please contact our office for further information. You are welcome to use our poster to reprint for the location of your work, and study.
