Junior Police Academy Series

Junior Police Academy is a unique and exciting program Vancouver Police Department has developed for elementary school age children.

South Vancouver Community Policing Centre is proudly coordinating this informative, action-packed and fun program at various community venues. Children are introduced to what it's like to be a police officer. The day's event includes formal drill, emergency procedures, and a number of topics such as 911, bullying, gangs, role of a police officer, Crime Stoppers, and forensics. In addition, the youth run a mini-POPAT (an obstacle course) and get the opportunity to see a dog show put on by the VPD Police Dog Squad, and the final activity of the day is a crime solving game. The program promotes awareness in crime prevention, helps children gain important knowledge about personal safety, and provides them with an entire day interacting with police members and CPC volunteers.
